The village of Torrance is the nearest village where you can buy groceries or various household needs but the small summer town of Bala is literally minutes away.  Here there is a greater selection of stores, restaurants, and entertainment facilities.  There is much to see in the area for those who wish to do a bit of sight seeing.  The larger towns of Gravenhurst and Bracebridge (with its famous Santa’s Village) are less than half an hour away. Also close by is “Torrance Barrens”, a conservation reserve with walking trails and Hardy Lake Wilderness Provincial Park.
